About The Event

Choral Evensong is a contemplative service of prayer, scripture, and music rooted in the Anglican tradition and sung since the sixteenth century. Often considered one of the great treasures of Anglican worship, Evensong offers a peaceful and reflective way to end the day.

On Saturday, May 17, at 5:00 p.m., the Schola Cantorum of the Diocese of East Carolina will sing Evensong at St. James Parish. The choir is made up of church music directors and singers from across the diocese.

Schola Cantorum is conducted by Kevin Kerstetter of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Raleigh. The service will feature music by Wood, Radcliffe, Walmisley, and Bairstow, including Psalm 46, accompanied by Brendan Conner. Jack Neely will serve as cantor.

St. Andrew’s own Justin Smith and Judith Nichols have sung with Schola since 2023 and toured the United Kingdom with the choir last summer.
