About this Outreach

Each third Wednesday of the month, parishioners gather to serve alongside the Good Shepherd Center, helping to prepare and serve an evening meal for those staying at the shelter. This hands-on ministry offers a simple but meaningful way to share nourishment, hospitality, and human connection.

Volunteers typically serve from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., with a team of four to six people working together in the kitchen. Tasks are shared and accessible: slicing and buttering bread, plating desserts, preparing salads and fruit, and assembling the meal. As the food comes together, so do the volunteers—catching up with one another, sharing stories, and building community through service.

Once preparations are complete, volunteers help plate and serve the meal to guests at the Good Shepherd Center. The work is joyful and relational, marked by gratitude, conversation, and plenty of smiles. This ministry reflects a shared commitment to dignity, compassion, and the belief that a warm meal can be a powerful expression of care.
