About this Outreach

Each November, St. Andrew’s joins with our Preschool community to support the Sgt. Eugene Ashley Memorial Center through a beloved annual tradition. Ministry teams “adopt” a stained glass window and fill it from top to bottom with non-perishable food donations, creating a visible sign of care, generosity, and shared purpose. This collection helps provide nourishment and encouragement to veterans as they take important steps toward stable housing.

The Sgt. Eugene Ashley Memorial Center serves veterans experiencing homelessness by offering short-term, transitional bridge housing for up to 16 residents, along with eight units of permanent supportive housing for those who qualify. Established in 2001, the Center exists to provide a safe, supportive place where veterans can live with dignity, regain stability, and grow in confidence as they move toward permanent housing.

Rooted in empowerment and respect, the Ashley Center has a strong record of success. Since its founding, 92% of participating veterans have transitioned into permanent housing, with more than 55 men graduating from the program. Through partnerships like this one, we seek to honor those who have served by walking alongside them with compassion, practical support, and hope for a new beginning.
