Celebrating St. Francis and Caring for God’s Creation

Sunday, October 4

This Sunday, our children and youth will celebrate the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, giving thanks for God’s creation and learning how we can care for the creatures who share it with us.

Kindergarten–3rd Grade & 4th–5th Grade Both classes will explore St. Francis’s love for God and all living things. Children are invited to bring a favorite stuffed animal for a special blessing during the 9:00 a.m. education hour. Donations for Addie Catz Sanctuary may be brought to their Sunday School classrooms.

Middle & High School Youth will begin planning the carnival games and activities they’ll lead at our Fall Festival, along with their roles in the Hallows’ Eve liturgy. Middle schoolers will also learn about St. Francis. We hope everyone can join us as we prepare for these special gatherings!

Youth are also invited to support Addie Catz Sanctuary. Donations may be dropped off outside the EYC Room on Sunday morning.

Most-needed donations: Canned kitten food, Churu cat treats, toys, cat beds, and scratchers.

Sunday Evening Youth Gathering | 6:00–7:00 p.m. Youth in 6th–12th grade will gather in the Parish Hall to meet the owner of Addie Catz Sanctuary, learn about volunteer opportunities, and assemble adoption gift bags.

Blessing of the Animals | 1:00 p.m.

Bring your furry, feathered, scaly, or otherwise beloved animal companions for a blessing in honor of St. Francis. Together, we’ll give thanks for the animals we love and the beauty of God’s creation.
