“We, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another.” – Romans 12:5
First, thank you! Thank you for making my first weekend at St. Andrew's On-the-Sound so special. I am extremely grateful to everyone who played a part in the services, and I am still overwhelmed with joy. Whether you read, sang, arranged flowers, set the altar, ushered, served as an acolyte, cooked, made a side dish, planned, set up, cleaned, gloriously burnt my hotdogs, or did something else, I am grateful for you. Everything was perfect, and you could not have made us feel more welcomed or loved if you tried.
Second, I am so excited to get to know each and every one of you, because you – regardless of your age, background, income, race, experience, or whatever – are important to our church community. Although I am the Rector, I am not the Church, and neither is our staff, vestry, or volunteers. We together, as community, are the Church, Christ’s body, and that means all of us (including you!) are necessary, wanted, loved, and equipped to bless one another.
So, please, stop by and introduce yourself (again?), or let’s find time to sit down over coffee. Your presence would bless me greatly! I want to hear your stories and learn what brought you to this wonderful community, what God is doing in your life, and how I can pray for you, help carry your burdens, and best serve you and the parish. May I be a blessing to you just as you have already been to me.
