What a joyful evening we shared at Shrove Tuesday! Whether you joined us in person or held us in prayer from afar, thank you. Your presence — near or far — made the night meaningful.
In the Episcopal tradition, Shrove Tuesday marks the close of the Epiphany season and the eve of Ash Wednesday. The word “shrove” comes from “shriven,” meaning to confess and be absolved. Historically, it was a day of joyful gathering and feasting before entering the reflective season of Lent. At St. Andrew’s On-the-Sound Episcopal Church, it was a beautiful way to celebrate community, music, laughter, and fellowship before we began our Lenten journey together.
We are especially grateful to share that the generous donations from the evening will directly support our Youth Program. These funds will help provide meaningful formation experiences, service opportunities, retreats, and gatherings that nurture faith, friendship, and leadership in our young people. Your support truly makes a difference.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made the evening possible:
Lily and Caroline for their leadership and energy
Our EYC youth for their enthusiasm and service
The Welcome & Hospitality Committee for preparing and serving such a delicious meal
The Aaron Van Nynatten Jazz Trio for filling the Parish Hall with wonderful music
And all who stayed afterward to help clean up — your willingness to serve reflects the very best of our community.
Shrove Tuesday reminded us once again that church is not just something we attend — it is something we build together.
With deep gratitude from Lily, Caroline and all of your friends at St. Andrew's!
