The Reverend Dr. William J. “BJ” Buracker II serves as Rector of St. Andrew’s On-the-Sound Episcopal Church. He came to St. Andrew’s from All Saints Church in Chevy Chase, Maryland, where he served in several leadership roles, including Vicar.

Fr. BJ is a preacher, teacher, pastor, and lifelong student of Scripture. His academic formation includes studies in mathematics, divinity, theology, and biblical studies, with doctoral work focused on the Old Testament. Yet his ministry is rooted not only in study, but in the practice of listening: to Scripture, to the wisdom of the Church, to the stories people carry, and to the quiet movement of grace already at work in ordinary life.

With roots in both Maryland and North Carolina, Fr. BJ brings a thoughtful, grounded, and compassionate approach to parish ministry. Those who know him describe him as a priest who listens well, leads faithfully, and helps others notice where God is inviting deeper trust, healing, and belonging.
