Organist and church musician C. Justin Smith is an active member of the classical music community in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he serves as Organist & Choirmaster at St. Andrew’s On-the-Sound Episcopal Church. In addition to his musical work, Justin is the Business Operations Coordinator for Campus Life at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), where he supports student organizations and student government in managing their finances and accounting.

Justin’s musical background includes prior service as Minister of Music and Organist at Pearsall Memorial Presbyterian Church and as Organist & Choirmaster at St. John’s Episcopal Church. A dedicated member of the American Guild of Organists, he currently serves as Treasurer of the Wilmington chapter and has previously held leadership roles as District Convener for North Carolina, past Dean, Secretary, Newsletter Editor, and Member-at-Large of the Wilmington chapter.

A graduate of Wake Forest University, Justin majored in Political Science and Music, studying organ with noted composer and organist Dan Locklair. During his undergraduate years, he earned several music awards, was inducted into the Pi Sigma Alpha political science honor society, served as Chapel Organist for services of University Worship, and directed music for the Wake Forest Episcopal Student Fellowship.

Following his time at Wake Forest, Justin moved to Wilmington to become Director of Music and Organist at Little Chapel on the Boardwalk Presbyterian Church in Wrightsville Beach, where he served for five years. He later earned his Master of Public Administration degree in Public and Nonprofit Management from UNCW, graduating as valedictorian and receiving both the MPA Graduate of the Year and MPA Research and Service awards. Justin enjoys contributing to the community in various ways and serves as treasurer and board member of several local nonprofit organizations. He also serves as the official scorer for the UNCW men’s basketball team.

Justin is delighted to be a part of the vibrant and welcoming community of St. Andrew’s On-the-Sound, where he continues to share his gifts in music and ministry.
